A collaboration of poetry and jazz featuring Katerina Canyon and James Maverick with accompanying musicians. Katerina Canyon has been published in several publications worldwide and served as the Poet Laureate of Sunland/Tujunga from 2001 to 2003. James Maverick hosts and curates readings at Gorky’s, Highland Grounds, etc. in addition to hosting 622 Soul Street on www.killradio.org.

RAZOR BABES
“Razor Babes” is a group of ten Moorpark College students and faculty that grew out of a popular poetry workshop series. They have performed at the Ojai Poetry Festival, Beyond Baroque, and more. Their integrated performance consists of single poems, duet poems, and group poems covering topics including finding a prosthetic breast in an antique store, coping with the loss of a friend, and the need to fold t-shirts in a specific way.

EMERGING VOICES FROM PEN CENTER USA
Emerging Voices is an intensive eight-month program for writers in the early stages of their literary careers. The Emerging Voices program matches community and constituent needs and is an important part of PEN USA’s outreach programming. It is the only fellowship of its kind in the United States. As a testament to its success, our 92 alumni have produced 132 publications including books, anthologies and journals. The 2009 Emerging Voices will be reading selected poems, stories and non-fiction.
